Installation

c) Access and Protection

• Central furnaces: 3-inch side, back and top, front (firebox) 6-inch working space.
• Compartment to be 12 inches wider than furnace.

Exception: replacement furnaces in existing compartment; use manufacturer's installation instructions.

• Elevate ignition source 18 inches above a garage floor and protect against mechanical damage.
• Elevate 8 feet above floor in public garages
• Elevate 6 feet above floor in private garages
• Suspend appliances a minimum 6 inches above adjoining grade or place on a level concrete slab.
