Stairways shall have:
- A minimum width of 36 inches.
- 7 3/4 inches maximum rise and 10 inches minimum run with a maximum variation between largest and smallest rise or run of 3/8 inches in a flight of stairs.
- 6 feet 8 inches minimum headroom.
Handraits shall:
- Be provided on all stairs with two or more risers.
- Not reduce the clear width by more than 4 1/2 inches when installed on one side, or more than 9 inches when installed on both sides.
- Be 34 inches to 38 inches above the nosing of the tread.
- Have a cross sectional area of 1 1/4 inches to 2 5/8 inches or provide an equivalent grip.
